Biography

Dr. Belinda Harris is Associate Professor and member of the Centre for Research in Schools and Communities and The Centre for Forensic and Family Psychology ( Institute of Work, Health & Organisations). Belinda is Course Leader for the MA Education, and also teaches on theMA Counselling, MA Counselling Children and Young People and the Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma Studies. She is co -chair of Shool of Education staff meeting and chair of Research and Teaching staff meeting.

Belinda is a UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist and an experienced supervisor and trainer in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. She is Assistant Editor of the British Gestalt Journal. She is also a member of the Nottingham SEN Research Network. Belinda received the Lord Dearing Award for Teaching in 2000 and is an accredited teaching member of the Higher Education Academy. She is also an Honorary Member of UKCISA, the United Kingdom Council for International Student Affairs. Belinda has authored two books:

  • The gestalt of education and school leadership ( with the Gestalt International Study Centre - Cape Cod)
  • Faith schools' engagement with extended services - key characteristics for optimal outcomes for vulnerable children and young people (in partnership with Faith in Families and Caritas UK)
  • The nature of trauma and toxicity in schools - implications for school leadership
  • The role of research in the education and development of professionals working in the field of psychological trauma (with Stephen Joseph)
  • Gestalt theory and practice in education
