Student Placements
Placements are a practical way for a firm to get a new development off the ground, undertake a short term project, or test a new product or service. Employing an enthusiastic and motivated student is an extremely cost-effective way to inject new thinking and bring innovative ideas to any project or development.
We have various different placement schemes available. Many of our students undertake a year in industry as part of their degree, and you may be able to employ a student in this way.
Tailored placements
Alternatively many companies employ a student for a set period of time, from a few weeks to a year, either undergraduate or postgraduate students, all with the support of an academic mentor. These placements are tailored to fit your requirements and can be used for analysis, research, testing or a wider frame of work, depending on your needs.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
You may also make use of a graduate's skills through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme, a governmental programme in which a business employs a graduate for between one and three years for a specific project. The graduate is supported by an academic at the university, and part-funding is also provided by the government, of around £85,000.
Firms which have participated in the KTP programme have reported an average increase turnover of up to £200,000 per year.

Case Studies
Our KTP case studies will give you a good idea of how the scheme benefits firms of all sizes.
The benefits of working with KTP associates are far more reaching than we thought. Our associates brought a whole new approach to problem solving and challenged our business to think very differently in areas outside of the project as well. In addition to this we had ongoing access to the academic resource at the University. Our project was successful in its own right but the 'softer benefits' have lasted beyond the project.
