Chief Financial Officer

Chris Thompson graduated in economics and accounting from Newcastle University and he is a qualified chartered accountant. He joined The University of Nottingham in November 2007 as Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the overall management of:

• finances
• investments
• research support
• business management
• safety services
• internal audit and hospitality

Chris also advises the Estates Department on strategy and development and chairs a number of project management committees.

His previous roles have included:

• strategic planning
• commercial management
• negotiation
• financial reporting
• leadership in the public sector

Current roles

Chris holds a variety of roles and responsibilities across the University, including:

• member of the University of Nottingham Management Board
• Secretary of Finance Committee
• Chairman of Notice

He also sits on a number of Boards and Committees.
