Entry requirements

Academic requirements

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Russia for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

Foundation  

Students studying the Attestat o Srednem Obrazovami (Certificate of Secondary Education, grade 11) are typically required to complete a foundation course.

An average of 4 in the Attestat (with 4 in relevant subjects) is typically required for admission.

Undergraduate   

Applicants from Russia are typically required to successfully complete a foundation programme.

However, if you have completed one or two years of study at a recognised institution, you may be eligible for Year One entry.

An average of 4 (or good) and above is required for social science subjects.

An average of 3 (or satisfactory) and above is required for science and engineering students.

Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.

Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

Masters

A specialist diploma or bachelor's degree (bakalavr) from a recognised University will be considered for master's entry.

An average of between 3.5 and 4 out of 5 is typically required, depending on your chosen course.

PhD & research

A master's (magistr) and bachelor's (bakalavr) degree, or specialist diploma from a recognised university are usually required for PhD entry.

An average of between 3.5 and 4 out of 5 is typically required, depending on your chosen course.

For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.

English language requirements

To study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. In addition to the more common language qualifications - such as IELTS, TOEFL, (I)GCSE, O level, IB and A and AS level English - the University also considers a number of other English language qualifications for admission.

English language courses

Our Centre for English Language Education (CELE) offers a range of English language courses.

These courses are designed to prepare international students with the required language skills for academic study at The University of Nottingham.
