Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from South Africa for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.
Applicants from South Africa are not usually required to take a foundation programme.

Students that have taken the Senior Certificate (with Matriculation endorsement) and obtained Higher grade passes in five or more subjects (with a minimum of three Bs and two Cs) could be considered for 1st year entry.
For high demand subjects (ABB/BBB offers at A-level) we would usually ask for AABBB in higher grade subjects; other disciplines may consider applicants with BBBBB grades.
Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.
Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.
Bachelor degree classifications are similar to those in the UK and so the same requirement is needed: at least a 2.1 or second class upper, depending on the course you are applying for.
For students that have an ordinary degree and want to begin a masters, a further qualification should be taken to upgrade a standard bachelors to a bachelors with honours.

A masters and bachelors degree from a recognised university are usually required for PhD entry.
Exceptional students may be considered for PhD entry without a masters qualification, but this is rare and would be more suitable for New Route PhD applicants.
For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying. A research proposal is required when submitting your application.
To ensure that you can fully benefit from your studies at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency.
Students who have completed a recognised degree, or completed the whole of their secondary education in one of these countries within the last 10 years are not normally required to take a separate English language test.
Otherwise, in addition to the more common language qualifications - such as IELTS, TOEFL, (I)GCSE, O level, IB and A and AS level English - the University also considers a number of other English language qualifications for admission.
